Summer means fun, so the one and only Ron Nagle (a Duroc!) was back at TikiTown recording some material Scott and he had written decades ago that had recently been dusted off and given a new life. As always, the music was incredible and the laughs were endless.
A blast from the past, former Capitol Records A&R wiz, Bruce ‘Rave Up’ Ravid stopped by and reminisced with Scott about the good old days when The Durocs were on Capitol and the good new days when we are are all free from major labels!
Jack Nitzsche Jr., an amazing screenwriter (and son of Scott's musical Godfather) brought in a band from Los Angeles by the name of Whiskey Business that blew the roof off of TikiTown. What was originally slated to be a test session to see if the band was ready to record, the guys turned in fantastic performances on four songs and made it very apparent they were ready for a whole lot more. Scott's production is lean and mean on this one, with very few overdubs. The raw power of this band is now captured and will be making the rounds soon.
From the gorgeous fjords of Bergen, Norway, to the San Francisco Bay views from Mill Valley came the fantastic AAA tones of Steve Morgan. A seasoned star in his native land, Steve brought his warm and natural sound to mix it up with Scott and find a blend for the world market. The results were a success and are on his brilliant new production, ‘True Story’.
